James Sansom - Director
James was born in London, but moved to Bournemouth on the south coast of England when he was a child. James studied English literature, language and drama at university, then decided to travel and learn more about the world.
James worked as an English teacher to pay for his travels; teaching a range of English, including general grammar, business English, improvisation and conversational English, as well as specialities, such as aviation and medical English.
James has worked in countries such as Peru, Colombia, China and Saudi Arabia, where he has enjoyed teaching all ages and levels of student.
James returned to England in 2015 to open an English school in Bournemouth called The Bond School, which not only catered for learners of English living in the UK, but also groups and individuals visiting the UK. The school was closed in 2019 when James moved with his family to Peru to have his daughter, Mary. They returned to live in Poole (the neighbouring town to Bournemouth) in 2021, where they currently still live.
Having worked under John whilst living in Peru, they built a good working relationship. When James had the idea to start Brit-Chat using excolleagues and other British teachers to hold online conversation classes, he immediately thought of John as the perfect partner in this venture. Since then the two have laid the foundations for their vision of helping English learners through contact with natives, as well as building a strong cross-Atlantic friendship.
